A FACTORY worker said he could offer no explanation as to why he killed his partner when he did.

Zbignew Yacek Madrzak, 52, of Fox Street, took the stand on the fourth day of his murder trial at Hull Crown Court and described regular violent and aggressive outbursts from partner Malgorzata Lasak, 52, which drove away friends and family.

Miss Lasak’s decomposing corpse was discovered at 26 Fox Street, on May 1 last year, by a locksmith sent to open the house because of unpaid rent, more than three months after she was last seen.

Madrzak admitted killing Miss Lasak, but denies murder, claiming he was provoked.

Answering questions in court for the first time, and speaking through an interpreter, Madrzac told the court the morning he killed Miss Lasak she had thrown coffee at him, insulted his mother and urinated on his cap.

Defence barrister William Harbage QC asked him to confirm each allegation specifically.

Madrzac said: “That is correct. Everything is correct.

“She was saying all of that so spitefully.

“So spitefully, like I was nobody to her, like I was scum.”

Mr Harbage asked him what was going through his mind during the attack.

Madrzak replied: “Nothing was passing through my mind. Nothing.”

He was also asked if he had intended to kill Miss Lasak when he got up that morning.

He said: “If I was intending to kill her, I wouldn’t have done it in such a way.

“There were so many occasions that we had been sleeping together. I could have even strangled her. I have never thought about it.

“I loved her.” And asked why the incidents of thrown coffee and damage to his hat in early February 2009 – Madrzak said he did not know the exact date – triggered the attack, he said: “I don’t know
